James O. Guleke, II

Background and Education

Jim was Born in Amarillo, Texas on September 5, 1948. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin (B.A. with honors, 1970) and his legal education at the University of Texas School of Law (J.D. 1974). Jim came to the firm in 1989 from Johnson & Swanson where he had been a shareholder and partner, and from Daugherty, Kuperman, Golden & Morehead, P.C. before that, where he had been a shareholder.

Areas of Practice

He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in December 1974, and the Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas in 1976. Jim is a trial lawyer with over 26 years experience in prosecuting and defending claims of corporate and individual clients in both the state and federal courts. He has had extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, including breach of fiduciary duties, construction disputes, manufacturing contracts disputes, products liability, employment agreements, trade secrets and non-competition agreements, restraint of trade and unfair competition, officer and director’s liability, tax appeals, copyright and trademark, premises liability, toxic torts, tortious interference with contracts and business relations and opportunities, business disparagement, common carriers, libel and slander, probate litigation, and real property disputes.
